The hotel owners in Kasol HP are in distress.
On High Court orders, the district administration snapped the water and power connections and sealed around 40 commercial establishments.
Kasol is a Hill Station in Himachal Pradesh, the mini Israel of India. A large number of Israelis are running businesses in Kasol.
What is the reason?
Kasol is quite popular among Hashish lovers.
The Narcotics Control Bureau recently raided some establishments in the area and found illegal drugs.
Following this, the High Court issued an order to the district administration to check whether these establishments are legalized.
The main purpose of this action is to regulate the illegal trade of cannabis especially malanga cream from the area.
On court orders, the district administration came into action and cut off the power and water supply to these establishments and seized them.
The owners of some establishments showed their distress and said that the action was a hasty move.
A lot of owners are running the business on their private property, they pay their taxes on time. The authority must give notices before such actions, but they did no such thing. Said one of the local business owners.
Another local business owner claimed that they are keen to register themselves with the District Tourism Department. But the area comes under special area development authority which makes things difficult to manage. We also requested for a system of proper sewage management from the government, but nothing happened.
